Hotel Pick-up & Transit

Early start from your hotel or residence. We drive to the Banjul terminal to board the ferry across the mighty Gambia River to the North Bank.

Morning Stop 1

Barra & Fort Bullen

Arrive in Barra and enjoy a comfortable breakfast at a local restaurant. Following breakfast, we visit the historical Fort Bullen.

Mid-Morning

Wassu Stone Circles

Journey into the rural interior to explore the mysterious Wassu Stone Circles, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will also visit the accompanying museum.

Lunch

Kuntaur

Stop in Kuntaur for a satisfying lunch before our river adventure.

Afternoon

Gambia River Boat Safari

Embark on an exciting boat trip along the Gambia River. We will visit several islands, including Chimpanzee Island (part of the River Gambia National Park) and Coconut Island, to spot chimpanzees, hippos, crocodiles, monkeys, and other local wildlife.

Evening

Jang Jang-bureh Lodge

Drive to a comfortable lodge on Jang Jang-bureh Island for your overnight stay. The lodge offers clean beds with mosquito nets and spotless facilities.

Night

Cultural Dinner & Fire Camp

After dinner, experience authentic African life! Enjoy a traditional dancing performance by local women from the community around a welcoming fire camp.

Breakfast & George Town (Jang Jang-bureh)

After breakfast, we cross to George Town. We will tour the island's historical sites, including the Old Slave House, the former Slave Market, and the symbolic Freedom Tree.

Walking Tour & Local Market

Enjoy a walking tour of the island, visiting the vibrant local market to truly experience the daily life of The Gambia and West Africa.

Afternoon

Return Journey & Community Visits

Begin the return journey. On the way back, we will make dedicated stops in local villages for meaningful interactions, including family visits and a school visit, to meet the villagers and learn about rural life.
