LAZY DAY CRUISE

This excursion is designed for ultimate relaxation as you spend a lazy day aboard a modern, 60-foot Gambian-style river pirogue. A lazy day cruise  is a relaxing, full-day boat trip on the River Gambia that typically includes lunch, drinks, and scenic cruising. It's a popular excursion for both couples and families, often departing from Denton Bridge and cruising through tributaries and mangroves.  

The Experience

Your journey begins when the boat leaves Denton Bridge. As you cruise along the scenic oyster creeks and meander through the tributaries of the River Gambia, you'll be served morning coffee (with optional brandy).

Keep an eye out for local life: you might see fishermen casting their large, circular nets (called 'jallo') or the oyster ladies navigating their dugout canoes to collect oysters from the mangrove roots.

However, many guests find the highlight to be the aquatic birdlife. Get an incredible close-up view of species ranging from magnificent ospreys and pelicans to the striking Yellow-billed Stork and many others.

The boat will anchor in a secluded spot, giving you the chance to take a refreshing dip and cool off before a delicious buffet lunch is served.

The afternoon offers time for fishing and relaxing before you enjoy afternoon tea and biscuits on the return cruise to Denton Bridge. A fully stocked bar is available on board with reasonable prices.

Logistics: We offer hotel pick-up and drop-off and will return you to your hotel in the late afternoon.
